Mindfulness-For-Managers.com was developed by Douglas Johns, MSW. I am a Licensed Psychotherapist in private practice in Portland, Oregon. After several years of intensive study of mindfulness-meditation, I began introducing my clients to mindfulness practice to reduce stress and anxiety and to increase psychological calm, confidence and creativity. Mindfulness-For Managers.com originates from my personal experience with and enthusiasm for mindfulness-meditation. The skills I teach are the very same I practice in my daily life.

I teach mindfulness from the perspective of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) as developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn, Ph.D., the founding director of the Center For Mindfulness at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. Kabat-Zinn has been called the person most responsible for promoting and integrating mindfulness-meditation into mainstream medical practice. Trained as a scientist in molecular biology, he is committed to peer reviewed scientific research demonstrating the benefits of mindfulness. I completed an intensive professional training in MBSR with Jon Kabat-Zinn and Saki Santorelli, Ph.D., the current director at the Center For Mindfulness. In my private life I am also a student of Zen Buddhism.
